Some immigrant students – mainly from Albania and Bulgaria – attend it due to the large flow of refugees. It is expected that in the country, and the area of Volos in particular, an increased number of refugees students from non-European countries will attend the school in the next school year. There are also cases of Greek and foreign students with economic and family problems, which are often in risk of dropping out of school. The school caters for their smooth socialisation, via teamwork with peers, aiming at the production of team projects and programmes. The school has had a lot of experiences in projects related to the subjects of this project areas such as sustainable development, active citizenship, social and civic competences Our school has implemented several programmes including: · Ecomobility, a programme relating to safe transportation in cities. It was implemented for two years and our school was awarded 2nd prize. · The Forest, our great benefactor (focusing on the oak tree). · The beneficial use of herbs in our life. · Our health in our hands (Erasmus+ project) It is within this context that students' voluntary work has also been established (e.g. cleaning up beaches, contributing to the preparation of meals for the underprivileged). The school firmly believes that the participation in such projects gives students the opportunity to think about these serious social problems, which are common to the most countries in European Union and all over the world. The attempt is to motivate the students, who are not only future citizens but also the hope for the planning of future environmental - friendly policies and practices. Participants' team that comprehends 6 teachers responsible for the improving of Eu dimension of the school, has been selected according to their linguistic and ICT competences and their intent is to share their experience, to acquire sure competencies, developing their CVs in such a direction. 1) Aikaterini Garyfallou (Principal): her long term involvement and dedication to work resulted in a successful leadership.
